CAMBRIDGE, U.K.-ARM released TrustZone technology, a new security extension to ARM architecture that provides security for systems running open operating systems like Linux, Palm OS, Symbian OS and Windows CE and complements secure application environments like Sun Microsystems Inc.’s Java technology.
The technology will help meet demands for greater security in digital electronic devices, including next-generation smart phones, set-top boxes, and payment and network equipment.
In other ARM news, Nokia Corp said it has signed an agreement with ARM to use the ARM PrimeXsys platform for Series 60, Nokia’s operating system for smart phones.
“By enabling full compatibility with the Series 60 platform, the primeXys platform will provide a robust choice of building blocks for an application co-processor for Symbian OS-based smart phones.
