ATLANTA-Cingular Wireless L.L.C. reinforced its wireless text messaging capabilities by announcing an extension of its personal computer to mobile messaging service that allows Yahoo Messenger users to send instant messages to Cingular Wireless devices. Cingular said that with the new offering, messages can be sent from a PC to a mobile device using Cingular’s Send A Message Web page, via e-mail message and by using Yahoo Messenger.
Cingular said its mobile customers would not need a Yahoo Messenger ID to receive a text message-only a text-messaging-capable device. In addition, pricing for the service is the same as using the carrier’s traditional text messaging options that range from 2 cents to 10 cents per message depending on the text messaging package selected.
