KT to trial Navini fixed wireless broadband system

SEOUL, South Korea-KT Corp. plans to trial 2.3 GHz equipment from Navini Networks, using spectrum defined by the Korean government for a high-speed wireless Internet service called Portable Internet.

The field trial is being conducted in Seoul starting this month.

KT will also use the equipment to test the extension of its Wi-Fi hot spots to allow users to roam between hot spots and the Navini system.

“Navini’s non-line-of-sight wireless broadband technology enabled by sophisticated smart antennas has the potential to extend and help differentiate our existing ADSL broadband services,” said Park Jung-Tae, vice president of KT Corp.
