ATLANTA-Sybase Inc. unveiled a $25 million strategic initiative that includes collaborating with research universities and industry partners to bring Wi-Fi applications to the enterprise.
Sybase plans to launch a network of Wi-Fi competency centers, including one at the Research and Technology Park at the University of Waterloo. The company will also join with its customers and partners to accelerate application development and deliver enterprise solutions to mobile devices. In addition, Sybase plans to head up a global marketing campaign to raise awareness of Wi-Fi’s benefits to the enterprise.
The initiative will “meet the enormous pent-up demand for reliable enterprise Wi-Fi applications that deliver measurable ROI,” according to John Chen, the company’s chairman, president and chief executive officer.
