Cingular launches Samsung Java phone

ATLANTA-Cingular Wireless L.L.C. launched Samsung Telecommunications America’s SGH-s307 Java-based handset on its network.

Cingular said the handset, which is compatible with Cingular’s GSM/GPRS network using both the 850 MHz and 1900 MHz spectrum bands, is the smallest and sleekest clamshell-designed handset in its portfolio and includes an internal 65,000-color Ultra Fine Bright screen, a 256-color external liquid crystal display screen, short message service capabilities and provides access to Cingular’s GPRS-based Wireless Internet Express Service.

The handset is expected to sell for $250 with a two-year service agreement.
