DALLAS-Texas Instruments Inc. said it plans to build a $3 billion semiconductor plant in Richardson, Texas, that promises to be the largest private-sector development in Texas history and an indication of the emerging recovery in the chip sector.
“We stand to gain from the well-educated workforce and topnotch research and development programs this effort will produce,” said Tom Engibous, chief executive of TI.
The project will also involve collaboration with the University of Texas and regional economic agencies.
