ST. PETERSBURG, Russia-Lucent Technologies Inc. said it completed an expansion of the 450 MHz cdma2000 1x network in Russia for Delta Telecom, the first Russian operator to launch a 1x network.

The expansion was completed in late June. The expansion made available voice and data services through Karelian Isthmus and in a number of additional cities near St. Petersburg. Delta Telecom initially launched its 1x network last December.

CDMA proponents are trying to break into Europe via 450 MHz spectrum.
