LONDON-British Telecommunications plc, a fixed-line operator that spun off its mobile division as MmO2, is in its second mobile virtual network operator deal to get back into the mobile arena, according to international press reports.
Last year, the company purchased airtime from MmO2 to provide corporate services under the BT brand. Now, the operator is rumored to be on the verge of an MVNO deal with T-Mobile.
T-Mobile also offers airtime to MVNO Virgin Mobile in the United Kingdom.
Last week, BT and T-Mobile announced BT will become T-Mobile’s preferred directory inquiry services provider through BT’s new number 118 500. T-Mobile’s 12.4 million customers now have the benefits of BT’s one-stop directory inquiries and information service from their mobile phones.
