NEW YORK-Smart-antenna technology is now deployed in one of every 10 base stations in the works, according to new research from Visant Strategies Inc. The research group expects the smart antenna systems market to grow to $1.6 billion by 2008, fueled by the economic benefits smart antennas can provide to next-generation networks.
“Current market conditions, despite the challenges, suggest greater potential for the technology in the near term,” explained Andy Fuertes, senior analyst. “Established infrastructure vendors are now integrating smart antennas into their product as wireless operators exhaust conventional methods of increasing their network capacity.”
