REDWOOD CITY, Calif.-The wireless local area network market has grown 2 percent from the first quarter of 2003 to the second quarter of 2003, according to Dell’Oro Group. Revenues were $419 million for the second quarter, and total unit shipments were up 6 percent since the first quarter.
802.11b revenues were down for the second consecutive quarter, but 802.11g revenues grew 48 percent to make up 24 percent of total market revenue. Pricing pressures brought 802.11b product prices down about 10 percent. The research firm expects the second half of the year to see further growth in the market fueled by back-to-school and holiday sales boosts.
