MINNEAPOLIS-ADC announced Telecom New Zealand will use its Digivance 50-watt, 800 MHz digital hybrid fiber radio solution in a new base station hotel architecture. The technology will distribute RF signals from base station hotel locations to remote antenna sites to improve coverage and capacity.
“As we deploy Digivance in our network, sectors of our existing CDMA base stations will be used in a ‘simulcast’ scenario, distributing the signal from a sector at multiple antenna sites to create coverage, while optimizing capacity utilization and improving trunking efficiencies,” explained Mike Moran, wireless investment planning manager for Telecom New Zealand. “The base station hotel concept is ideal for this application-and enables us to future proof the network.”
