HELSINKI, Finland-Messaging supplier Tecnomen Corp. said it began employee negotiations to reduce its staff by 80 people in different offices during 2003 and 2004. The company said productivity and financial issues have forced the reductions, which will save the company up to $6.5 million a year.
In other news, Tecnomen said it deployed a full intelligent network prepaid service for Porta’s GSM and TDMA networks in Ecuador. Porta operates the Conecel mobile network in Ecuador with more than 1.2 million subscribers.
Tecnomen said the system will allow Conecel to provide the same prepaid service for its TDMA and GSM users from a centralized system connected to the two networks.
