Ericsson wins 1x deal in Kazakhstan

STOCKHOLM, Sweden-L.M. Ericsson and Kazakhstan operator Altel signed a CDMA2000 1x contract for a nationwide network under a $30 million deal.

The contract includes Ericsson’s total CDMA2000 network solution, the Swedish vendor said.

Deployment has already begun with an expected commercial launch in the fourth quarter. The first stage of the CDMA deployment includes a simultaneous launch in 14 cities. The operator eventually plans to extend coverage to 30 cities.
