NEW YORK-Spending on cellular infrastructure will trump WiMAX either of the 802.16 or 802.20 variety, according to a report by Allied Business Intelligence.
“Though WiMAX will play a significant role in the industry, the markets for traditional cellular networks will continue to dominate due to their ubiquitous nature,” asserted Edward Rerisi, ABI’s director of research.
The study forecasts spending on the technologies, including GPRS, W-CDMA, CDMA2000 and WiMAx, will amount to $16 billion by 2007.
