BEIJING-Motorola Inc. said it has signed a $10 million contract extension to build the second phase of a location-based services network for China Unicom.
“LBS allows China Unicom’s subscribers to access a range of location-based information, including nearest public facilities, restaurants and entertainment outlets,” said both companies.
Motorola also introduced what it calls a breakthrough miniature global positioning system product known as FS Oncore for handsets and personal digital assistants.
“By design, this product is optimized for low-cost production, high performance and simple use,” said Tim McCarthy, director of positioning systems for Motorola Automotive.
