SAO PAULO, Brazil-Nokia Corp. has released several new handsets focused on the Latin America market, with Nokia Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Jorma Ollila emphasizing the importance of the market. The news follows the Finnish supplier’s announcement at the beginning of this month that it will focus on emerging markets with new phones, business models and network solutions.
Nokia pointed out Russia, India and Latin America for its plans.
In today’s announcement, Nokia said it would introduce three new handsets, one for each major wireless technology, including CDMA, TDMA and GSM. The Nokia 6225 CDMA handset features 1X capability and Java technology. The TDMA Nokia 6560 has a color screen, Java technology and a built-in handsfree speaker. The tri-band GSM Nokia 3200 phone features EDGE technology and a color display.
