Motorola delays GSM handset releases

NEW YORK-Motorola Inc. will reportedly delay the introduction of three new GSM handsets that were to be launched by the end of this month until the middle of October due to concerns over the company’s GSM platform. The delayed handsets include the V300, V500 and V600.

“We don’t consider the delay material,” Motorola spokesman William Parke told Dow Jones Business News. “It’s a joint decision with the carriers. We just want to make sure there are no hitches when we do launch.”
Motorola added that the delay would not have a material impact on its third-quarter results.
