SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-One-third of wireless application developers in the People’s Republic of China are now deploying wireless applications, according to results from Evans Data Corp.’s Fall Chinese Wireless Development Survey, which polled 600 wireless developers in China.
Meanwhile, 37 percent said they will deploy wireless applications within the next 12 months, and 10 percent indicated a deployment timeframe of more than two years. Of these developers, 43 percent said they expect to mobilize 10,000 end users, and 54 percent believe they will mobilize 1,000 end users.
“It shouldn’t be surprising that so many developers are deploying wireless applications so quickly to so many users,” said Esther Schindler, Evans’ Chinese wireless analyst. “In August 2003, the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry announced that there are more than 250 million mobile phones in China; it’s an astonishingly large market-a market where there are boundless opportunities to the companies that are quickest to project completion and deployment.”
