Nokia announces three wearable devices, W-CDMA phone

Nokia Corp. continued to push the boundaries of the mobile-phone industry with three new wearable devices designed to bolster the camera-phone market, as well as a new W-CDMA phone with a unique design.

Nokia said its new 7600 will work on GSM 900/1800 MHz and W-CDMA networks and will be available in Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific in the fourth quarter of this year. The phone features a digital camera, an MP3 music player and a singular square design.

Nokia’s new wearable devices mark the launch of the company’s new Imagewear product group. The company’s new Medallion I and II and the Nokia Kaleidoscope I will be available in Europe, the United States and selected markets in Asia Pacific during the first quarter of next year. The devices display pictures taken from camera phones, with the images transmitted through infrared.
