SurfKitchen releases Java user interface product for operators

LONDON-Wireless startup SurfKitchen released its new Intelligent Client Java edition product, which the company said allows wireless carriers to update and modify the user interface on any Java-capable mobile phone.

SurfKitchen said its Intelligent Client resides in the handset and delivers the mobile operator’s services through a user interface, regardless of whether the user is connected. The company said the product allows users to see what services are available, thus saving money by not having to browse downloads, such as ring tones and games.

Surfkitchen sells its Surfkit Mobile product suite to carriers, which the company said allows them to rapidly create customized user interfaces that can be managed and updated over the air. The company claims five European network operators and a major handset manufacturer as customers.
