SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. added two U.S. carriers to its list of BREW clients, with both Metro PCS and Western Wireless Corp. signing agreements with the vendor to offer BREW services to their subscribers.
MetroPCS’s subscribers in San Francisco; Sacramento, Calif.; Miami; and Atlanta will be able to download games, ring tones, entertainment and production applications over MetroPCS’s 1x network under the deal. In addition, Western Wireless’ Cellular One rural customers also will be able to download BREW-based products and services.
The carriers did not say when they would launch BREW services.
Western Wireless also said it completed and activated CDMA network upgrades in Nebraska and Kansas.
