Dobson sees drops in sub adds, churn

OKLAHOMA CITY-Dobson Communications Corp. said it added approximately 10,200 net subscribers during the third quarter of this year compared with 14,700 customer additions during the third quarter of 2002. Dobson noted the results were affected by a year-over-year drop in gross customer additions from 55,000 subscribers last year to 49,600 subscribers, which more than offset a 30-basis-point, year-over-year decline in postpaid customer churn from 2 percent last year to 1.7 percent this year.

Dobson, which is expected to release full third-quarter results Nov. 10, added that including two Alaska properties acquired this summer, the carrier served approximately 877,800 subscribers at the end of the third quarter.
