LAS VEGAS-VeriSign announced its upgraded speedSUITE billing and customer care solution will be used by MetroPCS. In addition, MetroPCS will implement SmartPay, VeriSign’s secure database solution for debiting and crediting prepaid user accounts in real time. SmartPay provides MetroPCS with activity reports for easier accounting, market analysis, customer service and resource planning, VeriSign said.
The supplier said the speedSUITE upgrades will assist carriers in implementing wireless local number portability, calling name and prepaid services via one integrated back-office system.
“VeriSign’s speedSUITE solution begins by saving carriers with a single billing system as much as $300,000 in added development costs to integrate a number portability solution with their existing OSS,” said Vernon Irvin, executive vice president of VeriSign Telecommunication Services.
VeriSign announced the product at the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association’s Wireless I.T. Show in Las Vegas.
VeriSign also announced it has become a Symbian Platinum Partner. VeriSign said it would extend its PKI solutions to the Symbian OS ecosystem for smart phones based on Symbian.
“VeriSign security services help protect platform providers like Symbian against unauthorized or malicious content getting online,” said Mike Foley, vice president of security services for VeriSign.
The company said the agreement is a step toward VeriSign’s goals of supporting all leading platforms for wireless and wireless Internet content.
