BURNHAM, U.K.-Racal Instruments Wireless Solutions (RIWS) and Agere Systems have been working to meet adaptive multi-rate (AMR) performance demands, as outlined by Cingular Wireless.
AMR-capable solutions allow carriers to enhance GSM services by leveraging spectrum usage to improve networks and call-carrying capacity. Cingular recently selected 38 test cases to be completed by Agere using RIWS’ conformance-testing system to ensure handsets used on its network meet required AMR performance levels.
“Reaching this performance milestone with RIWS is a clear demonstration of the assurance we can provide to handset manufacturers and carriers looking to rapidly address the needs of the fast-growing, global market,” said Andy Craigen of Agere.
