RESTON, Va.-Nextel Communications Inc. founder Morgan O’Brien said he was leaving the company as an employee, which recently included overseeing Nextel’s spectrum acquisition program, regulatory affairs and new market development initiatives, but would continue to serve Nextel as vice chairman on the carrier’s board of directors.
While not divulging his future plans, O’Brien hinted he plans to continue his work with the public safety community.
“During the past two years, I have devoted my attention almost exclusively to the needs of the public safety community, and I feel a strong calling to expand upon that mission,” O’Brien said in a statement. “I am ready for new challenges and look forward to leveraging my experiences working in the business, legal and finance arenas for the benefit of the public safety community.”
