PARIS-Alcatel Corp. said it was awarded a $100 million contract by Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc. to increase its Sun Cellular subsidiary capacity to 1 million subscribers. The contract mainly covers the island of Luzon, the largest island of the Philippines archipelago.
Alcatel said the network will be rolled out in early 2004. The supplier will provide GSM/GPRS and EDGE-ready gear, including radio base stations and mobile switching equipment.
