CHICAGO-Former vice president and director of software development for Motorola Inc.’s cell phone division, Robert Krolopp, is suing the company for $1 million over his firing, according to The Associated Press.
According to a lawsuit filed Oct. 31, Krolopp was suspended without pay after complaining to senior management that funds were diverted from work he oversaw to cover operating deficits, the AP reported. Krolopp headed up part of Motorola’s $32 million contract with Hutchinson Whampoa Ltd. to provide software for its phones.
Following his suspension, Motorola searched Krolopp’s e-mail messages and then fired Krolopp for “engaging in a relationship with a female co-worker” he supervised, according to the AP. Krolopp denies supervising the worker.
