InnerWireless Inc. will market its InnerMobile in-building wireless distribution system to wireless service providers to enable wireless communications throughout the Sears Tower in Chicago. The wireless system will cover the skyscraper’s 110 floors, which encompass 3.5 million square feet of office and retail space that houses more than 100 companies. The InnerMobile system simultaneously supports cellular and PCS voice and data, paging, two-way radio, wireless local area networks and emergency communications services. The system has also been implemented in the Rockefeller Center Concourse.

Renesas Technology Corp. will incorporate Microsoft Corp.’s digital audio and video codec technology and RealNetworks Inc.’s digital audio and video codec technologies into its SH-Mobile Series of application processors for next-generation mobile-phone systems. Through the partnership, the codec technologies, which are currently used in PCs, PDAs and portable players, can also be installed in mobile phones. The technologies enable the support of multimedia content player functions and distribution services and offer solutions for the construction of systems linked to information devices like PCs.

OFDM solution developer Wavesat Inc. said it has chosen Atmel Inc.’s product to design and make what it calls the first WiMax 802.16d chips. “Using our .18 micron SiliconCity mixed-signal standard cell library for this complex design will offer Wavesat and its customers a high-performance and cost-effective solution.” Wavesat said its goal is to create a system on a chip.

Semiconductor company Integration Associates and speech technology provider Sensory announced they will co-market Integration Associates’ new EZRadio wireless chipset with Sensory’s Speech Recognition Synthesis and Control (RSC) chipset for use in next-generation consumer electronics. “EZRadio enables wireless connectivity for toys and consumer electronics at a price/performance point previously unavailable,” explained Jean-Luc Nauleau, chief executive officer at Integration Associates.
