VACOUVER, B.C.-Yangtze Telecom Corp. said China Mobile Communications Corp. has authorized it to offer SMS services nationwide to China Mobile’s 180 million subscribers. Yangtze already offers SMS services to China United Telecommunications Corp.’s (China Unicom) 90 million subscribers.
In order to get authorization from China Mobile, Yangtze had to secure a national SMS access number from the carrier, obtain equity financing in North America to meet capitalization requirements, open branch offices in Beijing and Shanghai, and complete technical testing with China Mobile provincial and regional operators, explained Emily Chen, president of Yangtze.
“This authorization represents a significant achievement for our company,” said Chen. “We look forward to offering our existing and future SMS services to China Mobile’s customers on its national network.”
