SAN FRANCISCO-Wireless enterprise company Good Technology Inc. called 2004 the “year of the mobile enterprise,” and looking to take advantage of the potential of the market, the company announced a new version of its wireless server product as well as new support for Pocket PC-based devices and a new partner program.
Good Technology, which sells servers and software for employee access to corporate information, said the new version of its GoodLink technology supports advanced fleet-management capabilities, enterprise-class security and soon will support over-the-air provisioning and upgrading. The company said the new technology also will enable multi-tasking and the ability to wirelessly view and edit rich attachments.
“We believe that 2004 is the year of the mobile enterprise. The standards are in place, the networks are ready, and a variety of compelling devices based on standard operating systems are shipping,” said Danny Shader, the company’s chief executive officer. “What’s been missing is the software and service required to glue these components together. GoodLink 3.0 fills this gap: it is good for business and great for the end user. It ensures flexibility, integrates with a wealth of exciting applications, and can be deployed securely to provide a rich laptop-like experience on Good-powered devices.”
Good’s announcement comes at a time of extreme activity in the wireless enterprise market, with major moves from Research In Motion Ltd., Nokia Corp. and others as well as significant consolidation among the smaller players.
