REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.-MTN Nigeria, which operates one of Africa’s largest cellular networks, awarded Harris Corp. a $24 million contract to provide its MegaStar 155 radios for MTN’s high-capacity backhaul GSM network.
MTN, which provides service in 35 cities and more than 80 smaller communities, currently uses satellite links in its backhaul network. The Harris radios will provide higher network capacity at a lower cost, said the company.
Shipments have begun and are expected to be completed next month.
