SAN MATEO, Calif.-Vodafone said it is using Mobilitec Inc.’s Java technology to power the application downloading features of its Live! wireless data service.
Mobilitec’s mPower product is already in use in Vodafone’s Australia, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy and New Zealand operations.
“This agreement with Mobilitec enables our customers to seamlessly download Java applications as part of our Vodafone Live! offering,” said Lee Fenton, director of global platforms for Vodafone’s global products and services. “We have already successfully deployed the solution in a number of Vodafone Live! countries.”
Mobilitec is one of several Java downloading providers. Others include Motorola Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc.
