LONDON-Actix announced its A-RVS third-generation network optimization solution has been deployed by Sweden’s 3GIS to help it meet its 3G network rollout deadlines.
3GIS, owned jointly by Vodafone and 3, is deploying UMTS infrastructure in rural areas in Sweden, and its network will cover an estimated 70 percent of the country’s population.
“3GIS is unique because it is the first time competing operators with UMTS licenses, Vodafone and 3, are cooperating to build and operate a common infrastructure,” explained Duncan Vardy, head of product management at Actix. “This places unique requirements on technical solutions, and Actix’ vendor-independent software plays a key role in meeting 3GIS’ needs in optimizing its network.”
