Academy Awards messaging campaign launched

BOSTON-Premiere Magazine along with wireless technology companies Kargo and M-Qube announced a new premium messaging campaign that will allow participants to vote for their favorite Academy Award nominees as well as register for a chance to win a trip to Hollywood, among other prizes.

“Premiere’s content transfers extremely well into the wireless world and the mobile channel provides our customers with great access to our archives,” said Paul Turcotte, vice president and publisher of Premiere. “Additionally, it provides Premiere with a fun way to interact with our current readers as well as introduce the brand to other consumers.”

Under the deal, users can send a text message to the short code 29273 (AWARD) to register for the campaign. Print, online and in-theater advertising will promote the campaign. For $2, participants will receive a category prediction ballot, a ring tone and breaking movie alerts via text messages. Participants will also be registered to win a trip to Hollywood, a Loews movie pass for one year, Sony Electronics devices, movie tickets, soundtracks and other items.

The Premiere Mobile Movie Awards Sweepstakes will run through Feb. 29. For more information go to www.premieremobileawards.com.

Premium text-messaging campaigns are open to most wireless subscribers with text messaging-capable handsets. Such offerings have recently become available in the United States following the launch of common short codes and premium billing services.
