LONDON-Spirent Communications is flexing its muscles in the wireless test system arena with a string of announcements affecting technologies from GSM to wideband CDMA.
The company said it has enhanced its UMTS location test system for testing of GSM and W-CDMA mobiles, including assisted GPS.
“This enhancement helps reduce the need for costly field trials and helps ensure reliable operation in roaming scenarios prior to full deployment,” said the company.
Spirent also said its UMTS Automatic Test System and the AirAccess W-CDMA Network Emulator platform have received validation from 3GPP March 2003 revision. The firm said it has a program to “verify the ability of the (UMTS test) system to interoperate successfully with user equipment from tier-one manufacturers.”
The AirAccess functions as “network in a box,” according to the company, and emulates virtually any multi-cell deployment scenario.
