MIAMI LAKES, Fla.-Calypso Wireless Inc. said it has received a patent from the U.S. Patent Office for technology that allows devices to seamlessly switch between Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
The patent grant, according to the company, will cover voice, video and data in such protocols as GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA, Wideband CDMA and other wide area networks.
“This patent allows Calypso Wireless solid arguments to justify the new Global Telecommunications and Wi-Fi revolution system, bringing a unique and powerful advantage against any possible competition,” said David Davila, president and chief executive officer of Calypso.
