AUSTIN, Texas-Wayport Inc., provider of wireless high-speed Internet access, announced it will provide Wi-Fi service in the common areas and meeting rooms of San Francisco’s Moscone Center meeting and exhibition facility.
Wayport’s common access distributed antenna system will be installed by InSite Wireless L.L.C. to enable Wi-Fi services inside the building. Wi-Fi access, supporting 802.11b and 802.11g devices, will be available this spring in Moscone North and South, and a later phase will add Moscone West.
The Moscone Center already supports indoor cellular communications via a neutral host distributed antenna system from LGP Allgon that was also installed by InSite Wireless. That system supports CDMA, TDMA, GSM and iDEN technologies and can be upgraded to support future technology footprints.
Wayport has provided Wi-Fi access in more than 800 locations including 700 hotels, 12 airports and 110 McDonald’s restaurants.
