HANNOVER, Germany-Sony Network Services Europe announced a deal with TeliaSonera Finland to offer a new streaming music service.
Dubbed the Personal Media Assistant, the Sony application is designed for mobile phones running the Symbian operating system and allows users to listen to music streamed over a GPRS or UMTS network. Users can select which types of music they want to listen to, and the service keeps track of individual tastes in order to provide a more personal experience.
Sony said the service initially will available to TeliaSonera customers in Finland in the second quarter, and will be launched across Europe with major mobile operators in the near future.
Streaming music over mobile phones has been available in a variety of formats for more than a year, including through Sprint PCS and others.
