WASHINGTON-Ahead of the summer vacation season, Cingular Wireless L.L.C. said it spent $30 million to add 24 new cell sites in recent months along Route 50 between Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Ocean City in parts of Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, including the areas of Kent Island, St. Michaels, Easton, Cambridge and Salisbury.
Cingular announced last year that it had entered into an agreement with Dobson Communications Corp. to swap its ownership in the Michigan RSA 5 cellular property, its 1-percent ownership in three cellular properties in Texas and Oklahoma not already controlled by Dobson and $23 million in cash for Dobson’s Maryland RSA 2 property.
