Evans says security will be main use of RFID

SANTA CRUZ, Calif.-Security and access control applications are the most likely to use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, according to a survey from Evans Data.

The survey showed 3 in 10 respondents planning on implementing RFID will focus on security applications first. Inventory and asset management and industrial tracking also are likely applications for RFID, the survey showed.

According to Evans Data, the number of RFID applications deployed is expected to increase by 450 percent in the next year and another 96 percent in 2006.
