TOKYO-Responding to news reports that it planned to end its investment in Hutchison 3G UK Holdings Ltd., NTT DoCoMo released a statement that it has not made a decision about ending the investment.
“NTT DoCoMo has been considering strategic plans with both Hutchison Whampoa Ltd. and Hutchison 3G UK Holdings Ltd., and will continue to maintain good relations with both companies,” the company said in the statement.
DoCoMo has recently pulled out of a number of international investments and is expected to lose its presence in the U.S. market following the impending acquisition by Cingular Wireless L.L.C. of AT&T Wireless Services Inc., which DoCoMo spent $10 billion in late to 2000 to acquire a 16-percent stake in an attempt to expand its worldwide reach.
