LONDON-Top European mobile-phone companies have created a new alliance, Freemove, to promote global mobile services, and to take on Vodafone Group plc, according to several European reports.
Partners in the alliance include T-Mobile, Orange, Telefonica Moviles and Telecom Italia Mobile. The group is planning flat-rate roaming tariffs and new product plans to enable roaming services across 21 European countries, according to reports.
Another similar partnership, Starmap Mobile Alliance, was recently formed by smaller European operators including the mmO2, Wind, Amena, One, Sunrise, Telenor Mobile and Pannon GSM. That group began offering picture messaging and flat-rate roaming tariffs for travelling customers last month.
