TOKYO-Following its plans for an initial public offering, Seven Networks Inc. announced its mobile e-mail software will be installed on NEC Corp.’s BREW-based handsets for Japanese carrier KDDI Corp. The company’s software offers real-time access to Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange, IMAP4 and POP3 e-mail, calendar, personal contacts, corporate directories, network drives and desktop documents.
“KDDI is pleased to be the first to offer Seven-enabled e-mail services on our BREW-based handsets,” said Yasuhiko Ito, member of the board and senior vice president of KDDI. “We plan to ship millions of BREW-based handsets this year, and see this as an opportunity to deliver our business users an easily managed, scalable and usable e-mail solution.”
In addition to BREW, Seven’s software works on Java, Microsoft Pocket PC and Smartphone, Palm OS and Symbian devices, as well as Internet-enabled computers.
