StayOnline sees surge in wireless use at hotel properties

ATLANTA-StayOnline, provider of high-speed Internet access solutions for the hospitality industry, said usage rates at its properties jumped 400 percent during 2003, and that growth is continuing into 2004.

“We attribute this phenomenal growth to a number of factors,” said Antonio DiMilia, president and chief executive officer of StayOnline. “In 2003, we more than doubled our number of installed hotels. There has also been a nationwide boom in wireless, and a hospitality industry shift to making Internet services free to guests.”

StayOnline’s network is installed in more than 200 hotels. Its partners include Boingo, iPass and Intel. The company said total unique users who have logged onto the network as of the first quarter of 2004 exceed 200,000.

Going forward, “it will be a matter of engineering,” added DiMilia. “Our RF engineers go beyond the standard ‘hook up,’ designing systems that fit the unique needs of every property while providing the security and ease of use both hotels and hotel guests require. And we’re prepared to continue advancing our products to meet the changes of both technology and marketplace.”
