LONDON-Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications announced Miles Flint will replace Katsumi Ihara as the company’s new president.
“We are truly happy with Mr. Ihara’s achievements and his creation of a solid business platform for the future and continue to have high expectations for Sony Ericsson’s performance. I am convinced that Mr. Flint will lead Sony Ericsson to further successes,” said Kunitake Ando, president and group chief operating officer of Sony Corp.
Ihara served as president of the Sony and L.M. Ericsson joint venture since its formation in 2001. After several rocky years, Sony Ericsson has managed three quarters of profitable growth. Ihara will move back to Sony as executive deputy president, group chief strategy officer and chief financial officer.
Flint also hails from Sony, and his most recent position was president of European marketing.
