DALLAS-Axcess International Inc., which provides radio frequency identification (RFID) solutions for security and asset management purposes, announced several new applications for its ActiveTag system in recent weeks.
Axcess’ solution is being used by Merrimac Industries to track intellectual property throughout its building and to decrease to the time it takes to offer customers quotes. The ActiveTag system, which includes Axcess’ battery-powered active RFID tags, will be used to identify, locate and track folders containing customer quotes, engineering documents and drawings and project notes to monitor their movement between departments.
ActiveTag has also been implemented at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Ark., to control and improve vehicle access for residents. For the application, residents’ car windshields are equipped with tags that are activated by an underground antenna as the vehicle approaches the gate. Once activated, the tags transmit identification information to a receiver at the gate to allow access.
Finally, Axcess implemented its technology at the Delta Downs Race Track and Casino in Vinton, La. The casino will use ActiveTag to keep track of slot machine keys to prevent them from being removed from the casino. Currently, the state requires that if a key is lost, the casino must be shut down and all machines re-keyed.
