TAMUNING, Guam-Guamcell Communications selected Motorola Inc.’s Global Telecom Solutions Sector to install Push-To-Talk over Cellular technology and to upgrade the carrier’s network.
According to the agreement, Motorola will provide CDMA2000 1x mobile equipment to upgrade Guamcell’s network in Guam. The upgrade and POC service are part of a $2.5 million contract the companies signed last year.
“This Push-To-Talk over Cellular contract is among the first for Motorola in the Asia-Pacific region,” said Simon Leung, senior vice president of Motorola Inc. and general manager of GTSS Asia Pacific. “A number of other Asian operators are conducting trials elsewhere, but Guamcell Communications has the advantage of being one of the leaders in its market with this innovative offering.”
