Sprint begins mobile service for banks

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-In an attempt to make it easier and more cost effective for financial institutions to provide banking services to small and independent business owners, Sprint Corp. launched its Sprint Mobile Loan Officer, which the company said would allow bank employees to process loans, establish accounts, transfer funds and complete other financial transactions using wireless handheld devices certified to operate on Sprint PCS’ network.

The solution is built on iAnywhere Solutions’ M-Business Anywhere mobile application platform running on the palmOne Treo 600 smart phone and will be available through Sprint’s business channels this summer.

“Utilizing the high-speed capabilities of the enhanced Sprint Nationwide PCS Network, financial services employees will be able to tap into the information and applications they need to conduct important business transactions, at a time and place most convenient for their customers,” explained Tom McChesney, director of the financial and insurance marketing segment at Sprint Business Solutions.
