Cellport, Harman sign worldwide licensing agreement

BOULDER, Colo.-Cellport Systems Inc. said Harman Becker Automotive Systems, a division of Harman International, has signed a worldwide license to use Cellport’s patented Plug & Play Telematics architecture in any vehicle.

The system includes interchangeable phone adapters that also charge the phone while not in use, a speaker, microphone, voice-activated dialing capabilities and an external antenna.

Harman Becker initially installed Cellport’s technology on Audi cars now available in Europe and on U.S. models that will be shipped in coming months. “With Harman Becker joining other Cellport licensees, our technology is now included on many U.S.-bound Mercedes, Audi and Rover vehicles,” said Pat Kennedy, Cellport’s chief executive officer.
