Apple adds wireless access to iTunes

CUPERTINO, Calif.-Apple Computer Inc. this week introduced AirPort Express, a solution that allows consumers to wirelessly connect to the Internet and to wirelessly access iTunes music selections from home stereos or powered speakers.

The first version of AirPort was introduced in 1999 to enable access to the Internet throughout the home, without cables. AirPort Extreme was launched in 2003 to offer faster wireless Internet access via 802.11g. AirPort Express adds audio capabilities to the wireless networking capabilities of the older versions. The solution, small enough to fit in the palm of a hand, costs $129.
